Hi, I’m Autumn or Malliumpkin (Mal-ee-umpkin)! I’m a Native (Mescalero Apache) book blogger & reviewer, living on the East Coast, who drinks way too much coffee and adores cats. I have an unhealthy obsession with books and not finishing my tbrs. Nothing is better than curling up with a cup of coffee and cracking open a book to read with some lofi in the background. I play way too much OverWatch and Stardew Valley. I’m constantly thinking of fun, new adventures for my spouse and I to do. And I think love is the most powerful force in the world that many people should use more often. And if this indicates anything, I’m terrible at talking about myself.
First off, you among many others are probably wondering “why the name Malliumpkin?” Well, here’s the short version of this tale: my gaming and just my in general features. The long version is a tale when I first started LARPing, a lot of members referred to me as being “too short” to play an elf, but eventually one girl ended up calling me “Malliumpkin”. For those of you who don’t know who Malliumpkin is, Malliumpkin is the door mouse from Alice in Wonderland. It just ended up sticking and here we are twelve years later! Plus, I think it suits me and it beats all the seasonal jokes!
I think I’ve been in love with reading my whole life. As a child I was very sick and never got to play with other children often because of being too sick. So I spent a lot of those times hidden away in the nooks of my school library devouring book after book. Even growing up, if I wanted books I had to work really hard. I was taught books were a privilege not a right. So I saved every penny for my school book fairs and Scholastic book orders. Now that I’m older, I still love books and even more so with reviewing them. This is a passionate fire that has lived within me for years of my being and it’s an amazing hobby that I can call my own.
I started this blog in 2019 and that wouldn’t have been possible without all of those who have given me the courage to start this blog. It was an incredible journey, it still is, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this blog. Since starting this blog I’ve received nothing but love and support from this community and I will continue to uplift Native/Indigenous reads while I continue blogging.
I shall be posting reviews on GoodReads and this blog!
